Environmental Education

The Mead Education Team is proud to offer high-quality, engaging lessons that adhere to educational standards to spark curiosity and a sense of agency. We offer programs throughout the year for school groups, scouts, adult groups, specialty groups, and clubs. We are able to create lessons and presentations on request or provide a program based upon the choices made from our Program Menu. Our Program Menu offers a variety of topics at all grade and interest levels and is always changing to reflect the latest in science and trends.

If you are interested in a presentation, staff guided event, team building, or field trips:

The staff at the Stanton W. Mead Education and Visitor Center located within the George W. Mead Wildlife Area specializes in providing excellent environmental education to our guests. Whether a club, specialty group, school, or nature-lovers, we can provide a variety of program services from presentations to field trips and more.

Programs are free (though donations are always appreciated). The process of making reservations and program requests is easy and efficient. See page 3 of the Environmental Education Program Guide.

For those interested in making a reservation to use the indoor and/or outdoor meeting space with kitchen:

The Mead offers a special opportunity to meet in a convenient, centralized location. The beautiful meeting space, designed to provide one with the feeling of being part of  the magnificent wild life area, accommodates a maximum of 50 people. A very large, smart t.v. with HDMI connection, Polycom, and additional technical accessories are provided along with access to a commercial kitchen for the best experience possible. There is a donation of $250 per day which can be waived upon request for those organizations doing conservation and natural resources work.
